Product Description
Fourteen-year-old Maximum Ride knows what it’s like to soar above the world. She and all the members of her “flock” – Fang, Iggy, Nudge, Gasman, and Angel – are just like ordinary kids, except they have wings and can fly! It may seem like a dream come true to some, but for the flock it’s more like a living nightmare. When the mysterious lab known as the “School” turns up and kidnaps their youngest member, it’s up to Max to organize a rescue, but will help come in time?

I read all the Maximum Ride books and have read a ton of manga. When I saw that this was out I was curious to see what this was like. While I can’t say I read it all, or even half, the parts I did read were dissapointing. The story line, which is great was basically the same but the art…ugggh the art.
In short Fang resembles a unattractive girl with long black hair and Nudge looks like she’s sixteen, with big boobs and long legs. Max, Gazzy and Angel, look fine, if a bit mediocre. The only saving grace is Iggy, who turned out to be pretty hot (:

With this manga adaptation, artist NaRae Lee breathes new life into the “Maximum Ride” books from bestselling author James Patterson. For those new to the series, it follows a group of kids with hawk wings who try to rescue one of their own from the organization that created them. It’s not much of a synopsis, and Lee’s interpretation of Patterson’s writing into comic form isn’t a smooth one. But Lee gets the job done–especially with his artwork. Vol. 1 includes an afterward from Lee himself and a sneak peak at Patterson’s newest entry in the “Maximum Ride” saga, “MAX.”
This comic is rated T for Teen: Violence, Adult Language.

Maximum Ride: The Manga Vol. 1 is a great adaptation of the (basically) amazing Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. They stuck with the story line and it made me fall in love with the characters all over again. It was interesting to read it in manga form and a nice change to be able to see the characters as things happened. Angel and Nudge were absolutely adorable, just like they were in the books.
I’m eagerly awaiting volume 2 to come out.
